Introducing the ARC Prize Daily Puzzle

Wordle meets AI IQ test.

ARC Prize Daily Puzzle

Puzzles are fun. Viral online puzzle games like the New York Times' time-tested Wordle and the newly launched, AI-generated chess variant Echo Chess deliver a daily hit of dopamine to all those who take a moment out of their day to solve a brain teaser.

Since the launch of ARC Prize, we've put ARC-AGI tasks front and center. These visually appealing, 2D, multi-colored grids are fun to puzzle over, and they help people new to the world of ARC-AGI experience the surprising truth that even the fanciest AI systems in the world cannot yet do what we humans can.

Our Play page, where you can see and solve 800 public tasks, is the most popular page on our website. Seeing this, we decided to try tweeting tasks for people to engage with on X/Twitter. Some of those tweets have over 20,000 views and every task inspires numerous replies with the solution and explanations about the underlying logic.

Ok, sure - ARC-AGI is an important AI intelligence benchmark, but it's also just super fun to play! And more people interacting with ARC tasks helps bring joy to the world and bring awareness to our mission - to renew energy into creating novel AI architectures that lead to AGI.

With that in mind, today we're launching a fun, new shared community experience - the ARC Prize Daily Puzzle.

Let's Play

It's simple. Every day at 12pm UTC (5am Pacific / 8am Eastern), an ARC-AGI task will be selected as the puzzle of the day. The Play page will become the home for the Daily Puzzle.

Daily Puzzle Start Screen

When you press "Start", a timer will begin and your solution attempts will be counted. Don't panic! Try your best to solve the puzzle, then share your results on X/Twitter, Discord… anywhere.

While definitely solvable by at least one human, ARC-AGI tasks can sometimes be challenging. Different tasks are more/less difficult for different people. It's totally fine to take a long time to solve a task or to never discover the solution at all. It's all part of the game.

There are no prizes associated with the Daily Puzzle. That would be cool if you could win $1M for solving ARC tasks as a human, but that's not what the ARC Prize 2024 competition is about. Hopefully, playing the Daily Puzzle gives you insights into how humans solve ARC tasks that you can apply to your competition solution or paper.

This is a v1. We'll add more features over time, like a tutorial to teach new people how to use the grid editing tools, based on your feedback, so tell us what you think (on X, Discord, or by email.)

Now, go look at today's Daily Puzzle. Can you solve it? 🤔 arcprize.org/play
